The Mir Alam, (who ruled for a period of 1804 – 1808), the then Prime Minister of Hyderabad and the creator of the Tank were the reason that made its name as The Mir Alam Tank. The edifice of this tank is truly worth appreciating. It is a superb example of engineering, comprising of one-mile bund with 21 semi-circular arches put up on it, thus giving the whole scene a grand look.
